1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Worstead St Mary |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Worstead sits in north-eastern Norfolk to
the south-east of the market town of North Walsham. The parish should
need no introduction as it lends its name to the famous cloth that made
this part of Norfolk famous. Today's village is compact and centred around
the church and adjacent crossroads. The village is thriving, but no longer
for its cloth, with most of the essential shops and pubs remaining. An
annual show takes place on the village green and surrounding fields attracting
visitors from far and near. |

The two registers from which this transcript has been prepared are filmed on microfiche 9 to 11 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office. This filming of 1989 is quite frankly atrocious being faint, out-of-focus and generally lacking in clarity and contrast. The records deserve much better than this. As a consequence of the lamentable microfiche there is a strong caveat and health warning associated with this transcript. Many entries had to be cross-checked with the Bishop's Transcripts (which were little better if not worse). On this occasion there is a strong probability that errors have been made in this transcript. |
