1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Weasenham St Peter |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The twin parishes of Weasenham (St Peter & All Saints)
lie in northern central Norfolk, St Peter being the more northerly of
the two by just a half mile. The village sits on the A1065 road about
7 miles southwest of the market town of Fakenham, that road joining Fakenham
with Swaffham. Most of Weasenham St Peter is built wither alongside the
A1065 or along the broad lane which heads westwards towards Great Massingham.
The area stands around 70 metres above sea level and is largely flat and
almost totally arable, although to the north the estate of Raynham Hall
adds a little parkland to the landscape. Its main road setting at least
has enabled Weasenham St Peter to retain its public house & school
although most other village facilities are lost. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers the period of the transcript and indeed runs onwards into the early 20th century. This register is filmed on Microfiche 6 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office, however the fiche are rather elderly so images held on the free web site Familysearch were used as they are of better quality. Whilst the image quality is acceptable the same cannot be said for the clerical content, there are anomalies almost throughout including, out-of-sequence entries, marginal entries and entries with missing information including in some cases the child's name. The sequencing is strongly indicative that the register was made up in retrospect and any omissions of expected entries may be attributable to that process. |
