1813 to 1880 Baptism Project East Walton St Mary |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of East Walton lies in western Norfolk about
6 miles southeast of the port of King's Lynn. East Walton is sited on
the B1153 road which heads northwards from the A47 at Narborough passes
through Gayton and meets the A148 King's Lynn to Fakenham road. East Walton
is a relatively small village with a few cottages and farms dotted about
around a sharp right-angled bend in the B road. The village is sited where
the valley of the River Nar ends and land starts to rise towards the chalky
heights of West Norfolk. The properties keep their feet dry but the marshy
common is indicative of how low lying the land really is. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers the period of the transcript and also runs onwards to finish in the early 20th century. This register is filmed on Microfilm MF987 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office which was used to prepare this transcript. Whilst this film is not one of the more modern filmings it is adequate to the task and the handwriting also presents little difficulty making for a straightforward piece of transcription to prepare. It is hoped that few errors will have crept into its production. |
