1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Trowse St Andrew |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
Trowse parish lies just to the south-east of the city
of Norwich, across the River Yare from the current city boundary. The
ancient parish was known as Trowse Newton but incorpated parts of the
western boundary of the Yare, namely Trowse Millgate and Carrow Priory.
The parish is now a suburb of the city and having been by-passed it is
now relatively traffic free and a popular place to live being close to
the city but separated by the river. |

The records of St Andrew's church were severely
damaged by being in the church when it was flooded in 1912. There was extensive
water damage to the baptism registers and many entries were faded to illegibility.
Although the majority of these records were transcribed from microfiche
6 to 9 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office significant portions
were done from the extensive run of BTs where the original register was
illegible. Using the combination of registers fortunately resulted in a legible entry for all of the period under review. However at times both entries were poor and complete accuracy cannot be guaranteed on this occasion. This was a difficult transcript and it is to be hoped the extra care taken to obtain a legible entry will have minimised the errors. |
