Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Tivetshall St Margaret lies in southern
Norfolk, just west of the A140 linking Norwich with Ipswich and around
5 miles north-east of the market town of Diss. The main Norwich to London
railway line crosses the western part of the parish. The area is a broad
agricultural plateau around 50 metres above sea level with wide horizons
and large arable fields of barley and oilseed rape. The village is centred
around an oval of country lanes but there is a nucleus which is shared
with the neighbouring parish of St Mary. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers the period of this transcript. This register continues beyond the period of this transcript until 1892. The register is filmed in Microfiche 4 & 5 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office and from which this transcript was prepared. These fiche are rather elderly and suffer from the poor quality of filming available at those dates. However, there are images of the register on the LDS Familysearch site which were used to verify some of the more difficult images in the fiche. As a result this was a straightforward transcript to prepare and it is to be hoped few errors will have crept into its production. |
