Tivetshall Society of Friends Monthly Meetings

Births 1837 to 1880

Despite its relatively small size the Society of Friends (Quaker) presence in the small south Norfolk village of Tivetshall has a lengthy history. Its foundation date is imprecise but believed to be as early as 1663 and by 1811 it was sufficiently established to build new premises for its meetings. The group eventually closed in 1937 although birth notes continued until 1955 as documented in Norfolk Record Offices catalogs. Two registers cover the period of this project both deposited amongst the records of the Monthly Meetings as NRO deposits SF154 & SF155 each filmed on Microfilm MF690 in their collection which was used to prepare this transcript.
