Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Threxton lies the western part of central
Norfolk about 3 miles west of the small market town of Watton. The notional
centre of Threxton lies just north of the B1108 which connects Watton
through to the A1065 (Swaffham to Brandon) road. Threxton is a tiny place,
a real blink and you'll miss it parish. There is no defined village centre
and very few parishioners, in the censuses of the Victorian era it held
fewer than 50 persons in total and today there are probably fewer. Just
a couple of large farms dominate the landscape, the southern portion of
the parish being the northern edges of the STANTA Battle Area and off-limits
to the public. Threxton's only moderate claim to fame is the fact that
Norfolk principal National Trail (The Peddar's Way) passes along the B1108
and thus through the parish. |

Given the small congregation it is not surprising that a single standard 800-entry register book covers not only the transcript period but was closed in 1998 incomplete. This register is filmed on Microfilm MF1642 in the collection of Norfolk Record Office which was used to prepare this transcript. A modern film production with good quality images only the usual writing issues detract from a straightforward piece to prepare. |
