Baptisms 1813 to 1880
Thornham sits at the north-western
corner of Norfolk just where the coast starts to bend into the wide shallow
bay of The Wash. Formerly a busy port the harbour gradually reduced in
importance until it became a pleasure facility rather than one of trade.
The area is now one of the most popular with visitors, the saltings contrasting
with the downs inland. |

These records were transcribed from two separate
deposits in the Norfolk Record Office collection. The first register was
filmed on Microfiche 6 & 7 and the second on Microfilm MF1697. The first
filming is an old one and suffers from faint imaging and poor contrast in
places. By contrast the second filming is very recent and is splendidly
clear and readable. Given the constraints it was a fairly easy transcript to prepare with few badly written entries. It is to be hoped that few errors will have crept into this transcript. |
