1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Tharston St Mary |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Tharston lies in southern Norfolk about
10 miles south of the City of Norwich and just west of the main A140 road
linking Norwich to Ipswich. The village lies on slightly higher ground
south of the valley of the River Tas and just north-west of the rapidly
growing dormitory village of Long Stratton. Tharston is centred on a three-way
"T" junction of lanes with other farms and cottages stretching
eastwards to Tharston Hall. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers not only the period of the transcript but also continues to 1917. The register is filmed on Microfilm MF1715 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office and from which this transcript was prepared. The film is rather recent, reflecting the late deposit if this register, and is of excellent quality with clear and sharp images. Subject to the usual caveats regarding clarity of handwriting this was a straightforward transcript to prepare and it is to be hoped few errors will have crept in to its production. |
