1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Swannington St Margaret |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Swannington lies in the eastern portion
of central Norfolk. Swannington lies in lanes about 4 miles southeast
of the small market town of Reepham and roughly 12 miles northwest of
the city of Norwich. Swannington is a rather small village which lies
about 2 miles north of the the A1067 road which connects Norwich with
Fakenham. The village is grouped around the hall and is little more than
a collection of farms and cottages, mostly built on a lane which runs
northwards from a small tributary of the River Wensum. There are little
in the way of amenities left in Swannington and the population is somewhat
less than the 360 who occupied it at the time of this transcript. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers the period of this transcript. This register is filmed on Microfiche 4 & 5 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office. These fiche were not used as their images were inadequate to the task, rather the images held on the free web site Familysearch were used. It must be said that these images were also rather faint and difficult to read without post-processing in an image processing package. Hopefully these methods will have ensured a accurate transcript. |
