1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Long Stratton St Michael |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Long Stratton St Michael (one of two forming
the substantial village of Long Stratton) lies in southern Norfolk. The
parish sits just east of the main A140 road linking Norwich to Ipswich
and forms the northern, and smaller, portion of Long Stratton. The parish
population consisted largely of farms and cottages east of the A140 until
modern developments expanded Long Stratton to the north making it a substantial
commuter village for Norwich. The parish sits on higher ground to the
south of the River Tas. |

A single standard 800-entry register covers the period of this transcript and extends beyond the 1880 end date. This register is filmed on Microfiche 3 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office and from which this transcript was prepared. The fiche is rather elderly and the images are lacking in contrast and clarity, some reference to Bishop's Transcripts had to be made to clarify some entries. However, because an acceptable image was always available in one or other copy in the end this was a rather straightforward transcript to prepare and it is to be hoped that few errors will have crept into its production. |
