1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Sprowston St Mary & St Margaret |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
Sprowston parish lies just a couple of miles
north-east of the city of Norwich. Nowadays the former separate
village has been subsumed within the ever-growing suburbia of
the city. A continuous built area now joins the two. This
process was on-going during the period of this transcript with
occupations changing steadily from a predominantly agricultural
set to an increasingly urban set of jobs. |

These entries were transcribed from two
deposits, the initial register is filmed on Microfilm MF/RO236
this is an elderly filming over 25 years old and the quality is
poor with a dull image and low contrast making the legibility
troublesome. The second register is filmed on Microfiche 5 & 6
of the Sprowston collection. As with the first register this was a
difficult read and as a consequence no guarantees of complete
accuracy can be given. Despite the large caveat and the usual issues of handwriting it is to be hoped that as few errors as possible have occurred in the compilation of this transcript. |
