1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Spixworth St Peter |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Spixworth lies just a few miles north of
the city of Norwich, formerly a very small village (little more than a
hamlet) Spixworth is nowadays a significant suburb of the city with acres
of modern homes built across firmer fields. What was once a narrow lane
leading northwards from Norwich to Buxton is now a busy route carrying
commuters to jobs in the city. Spixworth consisted of little but a handful
of cottages and farms clustered around the Horsham St Faiths junction
with that lane. A very changed aspect indeed. |

A single standard register book of 800 entries covers not only the period of this short transcript but continues up until the 20th century. The register is filmed on Microfiche 4 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office and from which this transcript was prepared. The fiche is early and poor quality but fortunately the entries (whilst in many hands) were in the main straightforward to transcribe. It is to be hoped few errors will have crept into this transcript. |
