Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Southburgh lies in Central Norfolk, a small
settlement in a large area of agricultural land to the south of the market
town of East Dereham. Southburgh is little more than a collection of cottages
grouped around a road junction where an east-west running lane has a "T"
junction with another north-south lane. There is no distinct village as
such merely a tighter concentration around that crossroads. The area is
agricultural and flat merely 50 - 60 metres above sea level and isolated
from even the regions small "B" roads. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers the period of the transcript. This is filmed on a very early microfiche in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office. Inspection of this microfilm resulted in the decision to take this transcript directly from the images held on Familysearch. These, at least, were of an adequate quality to make for a straightforward transcript. The same could not be said for the fiche. |
