Baptisms 1813 to 1880
Great Snoring - the village that has spawned a million
"sleepy Norfolk" jokes is actually a rather bustling village
set in central North Norfolk. The parish lies north-east of the market
town of Fakenham and north of the A149 road between Fakenham and Cromer.
To the north of the parish is the pilgrimage centre of Walsingham, Great
Snoring, however, has its eyes on more material matters and has been a
farming community and is still predominantly so. |

These records were transcribed from two deposits, the first register was filmed on MF584 and whilst an old filming is perfectly clear and with good contrast. The second register was more recently place with the Norfolk Record Office and is filmed on MF 1653; this more recent filming is an excellent resource being clear and with good contrast, As a consequence the transcript was straight-forward and subject to mis-interpretation of handwriting should be relatively free from error. |
