Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Shereford lies in north-central Norfolk
about 2 miles southwest of the market town of Fakenham. Shereford is little
more than a scatter of farms and cottages to the south of the River Wensum
as it approaches Fakenham. The parish is centered around the church which
is sited on the banks of the river at the end of a long lane leading from
the Fakenham to Swaffham road west of Hempton. This is a rather rural
area with a density of small low population parishes and Shereford is
certainly that as it supported barely 100 souls. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers the period of this transcript and indeed runs into the late 20th century such was the small size of the population in the parish. This register is filmed on Microfilm MF1400 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office which was used to prepare this transcript. The film is one of the more modern examples with good quality images naking for fairly easy reading and a simple transcript to prepare. |
