Baptisms 1813 to 1880
Saxthorpe parish lies on the
north bank of the River Bure at the crossing of the Norwich to Holt "B"
road. The village is part of a twin village with its partner Corpusty
across the Bure. The settlement is strewn along the higher ground above
the Bure water-meadows and the land is a mixture of arable to the north
with pastures still predominating on the poorly drained levels. |

These records were transcribed from Microfilm MF1672 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office. Although this is a recent filming the state of the source material must have been rather poor with bleached out ink a feature in many periods. As usual there were poor hand-writing legibility problems to add to the poor reproduction. This was not an easy transcript and a degree of interpretation has been used on occasion. A number of entries were also cross-referred to the Bishop's Transcripts for verification. It is to be hoped that despite these deficiencies an accurate transcript has been made. |
