1813 to 1880 Baptism Project West Rudham St Peter |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of West Rudham lies in northwestern central
Norfolk about 7 miles west of the market town of Fakenham. West Rudham
sits on the main A148 road which links Fakenham to the port of King's
Lynn. West Rudham is almost contiguous with its eastern neighbour with
little break between the two small villages, in particular along the A148
itself. West Rudham is the smaller of the two settlements and apart from
those properties along the main road has also a small community along
the lane that heads south and then east to the church. This is an area
of relatively higher ground for Norfolk with wide open arable fields under
big skies, in the past there would have been sheep rearing on these poorer
soils. |

Two standard 800-entry register books cover the period of the transcript, the first finishes in 1868, the second continues beyond to finish in 1901. The register are filmed on Microfiche 5 to 7 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office which were largely used to compile this transcript. These fiche are rather elderly and better quality images are available to view on Familysearch which were used to confirm entries which were trickier to read. As a result his was a straightforward transcript to prepare and hopefully few errors will have crept in. |
