Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of East Raynham is in central Norfolk about
4 miles south-west of the market town of Fakenham and west of the A1065
which joins Fakenham to Swaffham. The parish also absorbed West Raynham
which was the original village. East Raynham is dominated by East Raynham
Hall the seat of the Townshend family and for whom the church was built
replacing the ruin of West Raynham. The parish largely consist of the
parkland and grounds of the Hall with most of the villagers settled in
the village of West Raynham. |

Two register books cover the period of the transcript the first from 1813 to 1864, the second running beyond the period up to 1900. Both registers are filmed on Microfiche 7 to 9 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office and from which this transcript was prepared. The fiche are rather elderly and the images are softer than current standards, however as a result of the good preservation of the books this was a straightforward transcript to prepare. The usual caveats regarding handwriting apply but hopefully few errors will have crept into its preparation. |
