Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of St Simon & St Jude in the city of Norwich
lies in the heart of the ancient city, to the north of the castle and
market and close to the river Wensum. The parish was a tiny part of the
city covering only a few acres of narrow cobbled streets. The area was
one of the more favored areas for the prosperous and wasn't marked by
the yards of poor labourers and weavers that characterised many of the
city parishes. |

St Simon & St Jude is one of the smallest, and hence lightly populated albeit still tightly packed, parishes of the ancient city. A single standard 800-entry register covers the period of the transcript and continues until 1895. This register if filmed on Microfilm MFRO351 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office and from which this transcript was prepared. Whilst the film is not one of the most recent efforts it is adequate to the task and as such this was a straightforward transcript to prepare, especially with the additional benefit of images held on Familysearch to resolve issues arising. It is to be hoped few errors will have crept into its production. |
