Baptisms 1842 to 1880
The Wesleyan Chapel in Lady Lane, Norwich was opened in 1824, part of the wider movement of Methodism across the country. As in other areas the chapel quickly accepted a substantial congregation from not only the city of Norwich but also from surrounding parishes. Despite operating from 1824 registers for baptisms begin only in 1842. Two standard Methodist registers of 4 entries per page cover the period of this transcript both are filmed on Microfilm 1728 in the collection of Norfolk Record Office which was used to prepare this transcript, there being no current digitised imagery online at the point of compilation. The chapel sat within the parish of St Peter Mancroft and records cease in 1939 when the area was redeveloped forming the civic area of the city, containing City Hall and the Millennium Library. |
