1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Norwich, Wesleyan Chapel, Chapelfield |
Baptisms 1841 to 1880
As you travel along Norwich's inner ring road the Wesleyan Chapel in Chapelfield is a prominent landmark standing opposite the ancient city walls and the modern shopping mall. The chapel serves Wesleyan, United Methodist and standard Methodist sects and is a vibrant church within the city. The records of this chapel commence in 1841 and are deposited as two methodist registers of 400 entry, 4 to a page. These register are filmed on microfilm MF1728 from which this transcript was prepared. The filming is very recent and of excellent quality, however as is common to many methodist registers several hands were contributing to the records and they are often retrospectively drawn up giving a strange date sequence. Not all hands were as competent and some interpretation has been necessary - in addition some unconventional spellings have been left as per the original. |
