1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Morton on the Hill St Margaret |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Morton on the Hill lies in central Norfolk
about 8 miles northwest of the city of Norfolk. Morton on the Hill lies
just south of the A1067 road which connects Norwich with Fakenham. Morton
on the Hill parish is dominated by the estate of Morton Hall and with
no public roads crossing it is largely private land in the hands of the
Hall's owners. A typical Norfolk parish Morton on the hill probably had
a little more pasture than most Norfolk parishes as it contained the southern
flood plains of the nearby River Wensum within its bounds. Today roughly
half of the estate is set to woodland with the remainder, away from the
river, arable like the surrounding parishes. |
