1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Morningthorpe St John |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Morningthorpe is in south Norfolk just to
the east of the main A140 road from Norwich to Ipswich and north-east
of the market town of Diss. The parish is sparsely populated in an area
of flat arable land just west of Fritton Common. Little more than a scatter
of farms and cottages, what centre to the village that exists is around
the manor and church on a narrow north-south lane. |

The deposit of these registers is extremely
recent with the baptismal register being filmed in the most recent batch
of records to be available. The register is filmed on microfilm MF/RO693
in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office. As a recent filming the
images are of the highest quality now available, sadly much of the register
had suffered from fading so it takes a modern film to make some parts readable. Despite this caveat and the usual issues with handwriting this was a fairly straightforward transcript to prepare and it is to be hoped few errors will have crept into its compilation. |
