1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Mileham St John the Baptist |
Baptisms 1813 to 1867
The parish of Mileham sits in central Norfolk roughly
5 miles north-west of the market town of East Dereham and 7 miles south
of Fakenham. The village sits astride the B1145 which connects King's
Lynn with Bawdeswell. The village is very much a "strip" village
as it has little depth behind the rows of houses lining the B1145. The
parish has a fine collection of antiquities from the Norman Motte &
Bailey castle remains to moated manor houses. |

Unfortunately the parish of Mileham has yet
to deposit all register covering the period of the transcript and consequently
until these come into the public domain this transcript is incomplete. A
standard 800-entry register book covering 1813 to 1860 is the sole complete
deposit, this register is filmed on Microfiche 7 & 8 in the collection
of the Norfolk Record and from which the bulk of this transcript was prepared.
A further 7 years information was gleaned from the deposited Bishop's Transcripts
but unfortunately these cease in 1867 leaving 13 years not recorded. The fiche, although rather elderly and poor quality, were of a reasonable standard; the fiche of the BTs were poorer still but just about legible. As a consequence this was a straightforward transcript to prepare and it is hoped few errors will have crept into its completion. Should the missing period arrive by deposit the missing entries will be added to this transcript and the BT entries revalidated. |
