The parish of Litcham lies in west central Norfolk about 8 miles northeast of the market town of Swaffham. Whilst today Litcham is just a large village it had at one time a market, granted by Edward 1, which has long since lapsed. Sitting in the geographic middle of a triangle of market towns, Swaffham, East Dereham & Fakenham, trade gradually swung away leaving Litcham to its current status. Litcham sits of the B1135 road which runs west to east from the port of King's Lynn through the the A1067 at Bawdeswell, Litcham being the largest settlement along that road sits on the northern banks of the River Nar's headwaters. Litcham sits at the western edge of the main arable farming area of the county, to the west land starts to rise onto the heights along the Peddar's Way where sheep farming lingered on into this transcription period. As a substantial village Litcham would additionally have provided a hub for skills and services which were too specialised for the surrounding villages.

All Saints' church sits just south of the B1135 on Church Street as it runs down to cross the Nar. All Saints would have been yet another typical Norfolk Perpendicular church were it not for the unfortunate fire of 1666 which resulted in the destruction of its Perpendicular western tower, as well as causing other internal damage. Funded by subscription the current western tower was rebuilt in brick laid in Flemish bond, the contrast with the typically austere flint of the remainder of the church is actually quite attractive and striking, an unfortunate accident. Much else is Perpendicular, the church was rededicated in 1412, a good date for completion of that work, whilst the inevitable later restorations also made their impact. A general restoration was made in 1850 and right up to the mid 20th century roofing replacements continued to leave today's building. Church Street is sufficiently broad to allow parking and arriving from the B1135 the church sits just beyond the white-painted Jubilee Hall. The churchyard is faced by a knee-height brick wall with entrance at the northwestern corner. The church is rather tightly hemmed by trees to its southeast, restricting the views available for photography.
