Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Kenninghall lies in southern Norfolk roughly
midway between the market towns of Attleborough and Diss. The village
is a substantial one with all the traditional shops and public houses
remaining along a main road and substantial settlement along the lanes
radiating off that main road. The surrounding area is largely agricultural
although the soils are poor and sandy as the village sits quite near to
the Breckland heaths. |

Two registers cover the period of the transcript, the first is a 1600-entry book covering 1813 to 1859, the second covering the remainder of the period. Both registers were deposited together and are filmed on Microfilm MF695 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office and from which this transcript was prepared. Both registers were clearly in a good state of preservation as the images on the somewhat elderly films are clear and very readable. Subject, as usual, to the caveat that handwriting on occasion was difficult this was, however, a straightforward transcript to prepare and it is to be hoped few errors will have crept into its compilation. |
