1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Ingham Holy Trinity |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Ingham lies in northeastern Norfolk close
to the dune protected North Sea coasts. Ingham lies just three miles from
the sea and is set northeast of the main coastal road linking the Port
of Great Yarmouth to the market town of North Walsham. Close by is the
more substantial settlement of Stalham. The village of Ingham is built
upon the arms of a crossroads of lanes centered upon the church. The heart
of the village is at that crossroads where Holy Trinity stands together
with the notable village pub, the Swan, a well-known food venue. Houses
spread in all four directions from this hub. |

The period of the transcript is covered almost totally by a single standard 800-entry register, the book was completed in 1878 and the remainder have been added from a second register which runs beyond the end of the transcript period but was abandoned in 1890. Both registers are filmed on Microfilm MF 1029 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office and from which this transcript was prepared. The film is of a satisfactory standard, however the same cannot be said for the standard of handwriting displayed within this parish which has some rather eccentric and difficult hands. As a consequence a clean "bill of health" cannot be issued on this occasion I am expectant that some errors of misreading may have occurred in this transcript. Hopefully they are few in number. |
