Horsey parish sitson Norfolk's eastern coast, a wild and
desolate area of marshalnd, grazing marsh and dunes. The dunes, themselves
are Norfolk's protection, a fragile strip of sand and marram grass keeping
at bay the North Sea. In 1953 Horsey was the scene of a major breach in
the sea defences with thousands of acres swamped by the sea and much loss
of like. The village centre is a tiny oasis of trees in an open, watery
landscape. |

This transcript was prepared from microfiche
3 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office. This fiche is a fairly
elderly filming and the images, at times, were a bit vague and lacking the
contrast of more recent filmings. The standard of handwriting of the clerics was also a bit eccentric at times which led to a modicum of head-scratching. Subject to these provisos it is to be hoped that few errors have crept into this transcript. |
