1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Hindringham St Martin |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Hindringham lies in northern Norfolk about
5 miles northeast of the market town of Fakenham and a similar distance
south of Norfolk's northern coast. Hindringham sits in lanes about 2 miles
west of the A148 road which links Fakenham with Holt. Hindringham sits
on relatively high ground for Norfolk, some 60 metres above the sea and
is surrounded by a broad plateau dominated by arable fields. The village
is somewhat straggly and covers quite a large area running for almost
a mile along the Thursford to Binham lane and spreading both east and
west of that road. Hindringham's moated hall sits to the west of the village
and is a fine example of a 16th century "E" plan hall. |

Two standard 800-entry register books cover the period of this transcript. The first running from 1813 to 1846, the second running onwards to finish in the 1890s. The initial register is filmed on Microfiche 5 & 6 and the second register on Microfiche 7 & 8 in the collection of Norfolk Record Office. More accessible and of better quality are the images of these register available freely to view on the LDS Familysearch web site which were used to prepare this transcript. Both image quality and handwriting throughout were acceptable making for a straightforward piece to prepare. |
