South Hilgay Iron Church

Baptisms 1861 to 1866

This church is somewhat of a mystery. It was only whilst browsing through the Bishop's Transcripts for the main Hilgay church that I became aware of this separate register for an "Iron Church" in South Hilgay. Searches via the Internet have failed to reveal anything of the history or indeed location of this church. The register itself is clearly numbered and separate from that of the mother church, but unfortunately is only partial with entries missing through gaps in the BT coverage. These few records are included here for the sake of completion. The author would welcome any contribution that might flesh out the descriptive text for this enigmatic church!

The answer to the riddle has been forthcoming - it would seem that the "Iron Church" was replaced with the parish church of Little Ouse, now redundant and a private house. Little Ouse is a praish for which records will be added once that parish is selected by the random methods employed. Should it prove that these records, here, are justa sub-set of Little Ouse then this page will be closed and that one take it's place.
