Baptisms 1856 to 1880
The parish of Hempton lies in North-western Norfolk, just
across the River Wensum to the south-west of the market town of Fakenham.
The village is largely contiguous with Fakenham being an extension across
the millrace onto the heathland adjacent to the A1065 which connects Fakenham
with Swaffham. The parish includes the redundant parish of Pudding Norton
which fell into disuse many years prior to the period of the transcript.

Registers for the parish only survive from the revival following the construction of Holy Trinity with baptisms commencing in 1856. A single 800-entry register book suffices to more than cover the period of the transcript indeed it runs up to 1901. The register is filmed on Microfilm MF1408 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office and from which this transcript was prepared. The film is a relatively recent one and the images are clear and with good contrast, this was a relatively straightforward transcript to prepare and it is to be hoped that few errors will have crept into its construction. |
