1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Heacham St Mary |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Heacham lies in north-western Norfolk, indeed
it lies on Norfolk's west coast - a strange anomaly in an east coast county.
The parish lies on the Wash coast to the north of King's Lynn and adjacent
to the main coast road the A149. Heacham is now something of a seaside
resort, the result of growth following the arrival of the railway. Nowadays
the railway has gone, closed in the Beeching cuts, but Heacham's bucket
& spade status continues with a strip of caravan parks lining the
Wash. |

The three register books which form this transcript were only deposited very recently and have been filmed on Microfilm MF1708 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office and from which this transcript was prepared. This very recent filming is of excellent quality with excellent images and clarity. The standard of preservation of the original registers was also very good leading to an easy read. Subject to the usual caveat concerning the standard of handwriting this transcript was a straightforward one to prepare and it is hoped that few errors have crept into its production. |
