Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Forncett St Peter, the more southerly of
the two Forncetts, lies in central southern Norfolk about 10 miles south
of the city of Norwich. Forncett St Peter is about 2 miles west of the
A140 road which links Norwich to Ipswich and is accessed from that road
by lanes leading west from Long Stratton. Forncett St peter is essentially
a linear village built largely along a north/south running lane which
runs just off the flood plain of the River Tas which lies to the east
of the village. The area is intensely arable, the village sits in its
shallow valley but all around is a plateau covered in large arable fields
growing, grain, oil seed or sugar beet. |

Two standard 800-entry register books cover the period of this transcript. The first register runs to 1869, the second completes in the 20th century. The registers are filmed on Microfiche 8 - 10 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office which were used to prepare this transcript. These fiche are rather elderly and of a poor standard, as a consequence there was much reference made to the images of the same registers held on the free web site Familysearch to obtain a clear view of many entries. Hopefully by this means an accurate transcript, typos and misreads permitting, will have been made. |
