Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Fordham lies in western Norfolk just south
of the market town of Downham Market. There is no village as such but
a collection of farms on a road junction just west of the busy A10 and
adjacent to the poplar-lined cut-off channel of the River Wissey. This
is a lonely spot with open skies typical of the Norfolk Fenland. |

The registers for the period of the transcript remain with the church, as a consequence this transcript had to be prepared from the incomplete Bishop's Transcripts. There are 5 records missing from this transcript, 3 for 1856 and 2 for 1862 if the numbering of the clerk is correct. Should the records eventually make their way into the public domain the transcript will be rechecked and the missing entries added. The BTs are of surprisingly good quality for such records allowing a fairly straightforward transcript to be prepared for this small parish. |
