1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Field Dalling St Andrew |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Field Dalling lies in northern Norfolk about
5 miles northwest of the market town of Holt. Field Dalling is a small
and compact village lying roughly 2 miles north of the A148 road which
connects Holt with Fakenham and sits some 4 miles south of Norfolk's north
coast at Blakeney Harbour. Field Dalling sits on a broad ridge of land
at roughly 50 metres above the sea and the area is dominated by arable
fields. Field Dalling is largely built around a "T" junction
of the main north/south road with the narrow lane to Saxlingham spreading
a half mile or so along that lane from its junction. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers the period of this transcript and continues beyond to finish in the early 20th century. This register is filmed on Microfiche 4 & 5 in the collection of Norfolk Record Office but better quality images are freely available to view on Familysearch and on this occasion they were used in preference to the poor fiche. It should be stated that the commencement of the register is somewhat erratic as it would appear the clerk believed he was creating a births register and failed to record date of baptism. This was resolved and normality restored after a couple of years. Thereafter much was straightforward and hopefully few errors will have been committed, it should be noted that all aberrant spellings are as written. |
