1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Dunston St Remigius |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Dunston lies just to the south of the city
of Norwich, about 4 miles along the A140 Norwich to Ipswich road and then
turn right down a narrow lane. The parish is dominated by its hall now
a golf course and hotel and there is little else to speak of in the way
of a centre of population. Dunston sits on the western bank of the River
Tas and stares across at the roman site of Venta Icenorum. The parish
is relatively small in area, no fewer than 6 other parish churches lie
within a 2 mile crow's flight of Dunston and the parish covers a mere
600 acres. As a result of this size the population was also very small
hence the short size of this transcript. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers the period of this transcript and extends into the late 20th century. This register is filmed on Microfilm MF1671 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office which was used to prepare this transcript. This film is one of the more recent efforts and benefits greatly from the improved techniques available today. It is blessed with good crisp images and in general the handwriting, too, was acceptable making for a straightforward piece to prepare. |
