Baptisms 1813 to 1880
Dickleburgh is a large village in southern Norfolk. Formerly
lying on the busy main road between Norwich and Ipswich it is now thankfully
bypassed and peace reigns in the centre once more. The parish lies north-east
of the market town of Diss and just north of the River Waveney flood plain.
The village straggles a little along the former A140 but there is a compact
centre with shops, pubs and the church. |

These records were transcribed from Microfilm
MF741 & MF742. The records consist of two ledger a standard 800 entry
book filmed on MF741 and a second 1600 book which forms the balance of the
entries of MF741 and runs on to completion on the second film. Whilst the filming is not recent it has an acceptable quality of image in most places. However some fading of the original inks has occurred in part of the first ledger giving a faint image in places. The standard of hand-writing across such a large transcript obviously varies considerably, it is prudent to note that some of the hands were poor requiring a degree of interpretation to decipher; it is feasible given these two premises that some errors could have occurred in compiling this transcript, |
