Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of North Creake lies in northwestern Norfolk
about 3 miles southeast of the small market town of Burnham Market. North
Creake is a rather linear village which sits on the B1355 road which connects
Burnham Market with Fakenham. North Creake lies just over a miles north
of its sister village of South Creake and sits in the valley of the River
Burn. The parish would have a mixed farming economy with the floodplain
of the Burn providing pasture whilst the extensive rolling hills of this
area of Norfolk would have mixed arable farming with sheep grazing. Today
North Creake is a substantial village which benefits from tourists discouraged
by the elevated pricing of the coastal fringe, a popular village for local
walking and dining. |

Two standard 800-entry register books cover not only the period of this transcript but run onward to completion in 1892. These registers are filmed on Microfiche 8 & 9 in the collection of Norfolk Record Office, however, digital images of a superior quality are available freely on Familysearch and for a subscription on both major commercial sites. The images were used to make this a straightforward piece to prepare given the usual quality of the microfiche which are rather elderly. |
