Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The small parish of Cockthorpe lies in North Norfolk just
a few miles inland from the North coast and midway between the ports of
Wells-next-the-sea and Blakeney. There is not a village as such but a
small hamlet about a mile along the land from Stiffkey to Langham. The
population live largely along this lane with scattered farms elsewhere.
Much of the parish is taken up with the remnants of Cockthorpe's World
War 2 aerodrome which spills both north and south of the main lane. |

As would be expected of such a tiny population a single standard 800-entry register covers not only the period of the transcript but also up to modern times, the register was closed in 1989. This register is filmed on Microfilm MF1001 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office and from which this transcript was prepared. The film, whilst not of the highest standards from present day filming, is adequate to the task and as a result this was a straightforward transcript to prepare. It is to be hoped few errors will have crept into this small addition. |
