Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The tiny parish of Clippesby sits in Eastern
Norfolk about 7 miles to the west and slightly north of the port
of Great Yarmouth. The parish lies on the ancient island of
Flegg and is crossed by the B1152 which connects Acle to Potter
Heigham. There is no village centre as such merely a collection
of cottages and farms. The parish is bordered to the west by
grazing marshes and slopes down to the River Bure. |

The transcript for Clippesby was
originally prepared from the incomplete BTs. Following the
deposition of their baptismal register the transcript has been
completed and corrected from the un-filmed register held at
Norfolk Record Office. Minor discrepancies (Anne for Ann etc) were
found between the two sets of records and the missing records for
gaps in the BTs added to complete the transcript. The clerical
standard of the intital 10 years is poor with challenging
handwriting but it is hoped that few errors will be present. |
