Baptisms 1813 to 1880
Caistor St Edmund sits just
south of Norwich in the valley of the River Tas. The parish is the home
of Venta Icenorum the Roman town which was the capital of the Iceni tribe
which gave rise to Queen Boudicca. The archaeological remains of the town
are largely below ground but the site is still a draw for visitors attracted
by the legend of the uprising aginst the rule of Rome. Nowadays the parish
is small and whilst rural it is close enough to Norwich to act as a dormitory
village. |

These records were transvribed from Microfilm
MFRO40/2 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office. Though a quite
elderly filming the registers were clearly in a good condition and a perfectly
adequate set of images obtained. Whilst there were on occasion records which were difficult because of the hand of the encumbant, by and large this was a relatively good set of records to read. Hopefully not too many errors will have crept into its compilation. |
