The baptist chapel, Heath Chapel was founded in 1796 in the small village of Buxton, the chapel itself was situated at the small sub-settlement of The Heath which stands on Sandy Lane approximately a mile south of the village. The congregation was always small but the chapel persisted until it was demolished in 1931, some monuments remain in situ. The only register deposited with The National Archives is their reference RG4/641 which lists births for the congregation back to 1794 and onward to its closure in 1837. Entries in the register are simply entered, usually grouped into families, in a plain ruled book which is filmed in Microfilm MF1147 in the collection of Norfolk Record Office. In addition digitised imagery of this book is available on many of the commercial sites for those with appropriate subscriptions.
