Buxton parish lies in the north-east of Norfolk around
10 miles north of Norwich and south-east of the market town of Aylsham.
The village itself is substantial with most amenities still present although
its now is more of a dormitory village for the city of Norwich. The village
lies on the River Bure mid-way between Aylsham and the boating centre
of Wroxham. The village grew up just off the river's flood-plain , a safe
spot away from seasonal flooding. The arrival of the railway hastened
the growth of the present village. |

These records were transcribed from microfiche
5 to 7 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office. This filming is almost
20 years old and the quality is poor by current standards. Strangely the
earlier of the two deposited registers is the better prreserved with clear
and readable images reflecting the quality of the original register. The
second is very faint and hard to read in places but most records were sufficiently
clear enough to make a reasonable effort. Given the quality of the later ledger it is not possible on this occasion to give guarantees of 100% quality but it is to be hoped that few errors have crept in during the compilation. |
