The parish of Burnham Ulph (amalgamated with Burnham Sutton)
lies in north-western Norfolk, a member of a close group of villages and
hamlets known collectively as "The Burnhams". Burnham Ulph is
actually merely the eastern part of what is now the toen of Burnham Market.
The area is extremely popular with visitors and quite a centre for second-homers
from London. The town swells every weekend as the cottages fill up with
their owners. |

The records were transcribed from Microfiche
7 to 9 in th collection of the Norfolk Record Office. These fiche are quite
an elderly filming and this shows in the quality of the image, it being
faint and lacking contrast. In places the writing had also faded making
difficulty in reading the copy. Where this occurred it was fortunate that
the year was represented on Bishop's Transcripts and confirmation could
be obtained. Given the usual difficulties with clerics' difficult hand-writing and the faded nature of the fiche it cannot on this occasion be guaranteed that errors have not crept in through mis-read or mis-interpretation. It is to be hoped these are few and minor. |
