Baptisms 1813 to 1880
Buckenham parish sits in eastern Norfolk, adjacent to
the River Yare between Norwich and Great Yarmouth. The parish is bordered
to the south by the river and consists of an extensive stretch of marshland
(now a bird reserve in part) and some agricultural land on higher ground
to the north of the isolated cluster of farms which is all that exists
of a "village". This is a small and sparesely populated parish
both at the time of the transcript and also today. |

The register which forms the bulk of this transcript covers 1813 to 1959 and was only recently deposited and filmed. This single 800-entry book is filmed on Microfilm MF1635. This film has excellent quality with good and contrasting images. The handwriting also is not significantly eccentric so all in all this was a straightforward transcript to prepare. It is to be hoped that few errors have been committed. |
