Bittering Parva St Peter

Baptisms 1813 to 1880

The tiny parish of Bittering Parva lies in central Norfolk to the North-west of the market town of East Dereham. The area in north of the A47 east-west main road through Norfolk. The parish, always sparsely populated is just a remote cluster of farm houses. Sadly the parish is now th site of a large sand & gravel quarry which brings its own issues of noise and traffic to an otherwise peaceful area.

The tiny church of St Peter is almost chapel like as there is no tower just a small bell hang with two bells. The church is early for Norfolk with a date in the 13th century and an "Early English" style. The church is in an isolated rural setting on a quiet lane and is now in the care of the Churches Trust.

This small collection of baptisms was transcribed from Microfilm MF742 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office. Despite this being of an elderly vintage the images were very clear and with ggod contrast.

Given the few entries present for this parish it is to be hoped that all have been read and transcribed accurately.
