Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of East Barsham lies in North Norfolk, one
of a triumvirate of Barsham's (there being no "South") East
Barsham sits on a minor road 2 miles north of the market town of Fakenham
and midway between there and the Walsingham's. A small settlement is clustered
around the junction of this road with the lane leading to Great Snoring.
East Barsham grew up at the ford which crossed the River Stiffkey at this
point. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers the period of the transcript and indeed continues beyond to finish in 1915. This register was filmed many years ago on Microfiche 3 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office and from which this transcript was prepared. The fiche, as stated, is rather elderly and suffers from the poor reproduction possible in that period being faint and with poor contrast. However, most entries were readable and as such it was a straightforward transcript to prepare. Subject to the usual caveats regarding the quality of handwriting it is to be hoped few errors will have crept into this work. |
