1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Banningham St Botolph |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Banningham lies in northeastern
Norfolk about 2 miles northeast of the market town of Aylsham.
Banningham is a rather strung-out village lying just over a half
mile east of the A140 road which connects Norwich with Cromer.
Much of Banningham is spread along Colby Road stretching for
almost a half mile northeast from the large village green. A
typical Norfolk arable farming village in a small parish of
around 1,000 acres, Banningham is typical of much of this part
of Norfolk, an area of gentle terrain, barely 30 metres above
the sea, with large fields of cereal, beet & oilseed. The
village green setting is, however, a great attraction with inn,
church & large green forming the hub of the village despite
being at one end of the properties. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers not only the period of this transcript but runs onwards to completion early in the 20th century. This register is filmed on Microfilm MF738 in the collection of Norfolk Record Office, there are also digitised copies available freely on Familysearch and for a subscription on the major sites. The film is not one of the more recent better quality films but is adequate to the task making for a straightforward piece to prepare. |
