1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Ashill St Nicholas |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Ashill lies in central Norfolk, it
is south-east of the market town of Swaffham two-thirds of the
way along the B1077 that links that market town with Watton.
Ashill is a substantial village but travelers along the B road
see little of it as most of the settlement lies to the
north-east along lanes running east from the sharp bend in the
road or north-south a few hundred yards to the east. |

The period of the transcription project is covered by two standard 800-entry register books. These books are filmed on Microfiche 7 to 10 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office and from which this transcript was prepared. The fiche are rather elderly filmings with images that lack the clarity of modern imaging; the images are faded with poor contrast and in places are verging on the unreadable. Luckily the LDS Familysearch web site has copy images of better standard and these were itilised in places to achieve a reading. As a result what would have been a heavily caveated transcript proved to be straightforward. It is hoped few errors have crept in to this transcript. |
